One of the best goals that my husband and I made 4 years ago was to start reading again. In our young adult life, we both could probably count on two hands how many books we had read…and it was time to fix that (especially since we considered ourselves “smart”…how embarrassing!). But the thing was time…where would we get more of it to have the time and space to actually read? We both worked and had two young children at the time, we didn’t have time to just sit and read…well then came audio books!!
We found that the “extra time” that we did have was driving in our cars and could pay attention to the book while doing mundane tasks like driving- 20 minutes to work and 20 minutes back…that’s 40 minutes of reading a day! We started our audio book journey with free subscriptions to the library’s audio resources, but then got impatient with having to wait for someone to ‘check’ the book back in…so we transitioned to Audible. Since starting our audible subscription 3 years ago, we now have over 165 titles in our account…and growing. Now when people talk about books we can contribute to the conversation!
This year I’ve resolved to read two books a month (one business and one of my choosing). Here are some things (books and podcasts) that I’ve listened to this month:
