About every 4-6 weeks, Jacki, the owner and designer of Salt & Paperie and Jacki Gil Designs, sends me a goodie box of all her most recent designs. We have her sessions scheduled so that as she’s delivering products to clients, she’s sending them to me, I’m photographing them & uploading…just in time for her to wish her clients a very happy event–wedding, birthday, corporate event, etc.
Goals of outsourcing her product photography
Her goal when she started working with me was to share her designs in a more timely manner…but it has had wonderful aftershocks! Her feed looks more consistent, adding value to her already amazing product, more accounts are sharing her work–resulting in more leads & higher invoices. That all sounds like amazing stuff!
Outsourcing product photography to spend more time in her zone of genius
Another benefit of outsourcing this part of her business was that photographing her suites was something she did not enjoy. She now can spend more time working in her own zone of genius as a graphic designer, wife, & mom to her two girls.
Shot list for stationery product photography studio session
For Jacki’s stationery product photography, we will usually follow the following shot list for each of her stationery suites:
- Full suite styled as a flatlay
- Each piece of the suite
- Detail shots of special elements from each piece (monograms, special print effects, envelope liners, wax seals, letterpress, etc.)
