As the creative director for the Mae Sales Group, I’m in charge of curating the imagery for their clients’ social media & marketing campaigns. One of their clients is a wedding venue & inn called Messina Inn, located in Wimberley, Texas. We have been working with them virtually for the last 6 months, using the imagery that they provide from images taken at their venue during events from other photographers.
It was time for us to fully experience Messina Inn for everything that it had to offer…and boy, it did not disappoint!
As a brand photographer, I knew what was missing was the images that sold the venue from behind the scenes & what set it apart from the other venues in the area. There weren’t any images of the team behind the scenes or images to support their services & packages.
Prior to us arriving, we had planned our shot lists based on their packages that they offered to clients, looking at what kind of images they needed to be able to talk about how special their venue was, or so that their clients could clearly see what their options were when making a decision about their event. I took pictures of different areas around the property to showcase the full experience, options that couples would have to select when planning their event (napkin folds, charger colors, table decor, ceremony sites, etc.), and different experiences that they would get as a Messina client.
As a collaboration with a local event designer and florist, Marion Events, another Mae Sales Group client, Messina Inn put on a styled shoot to give us the opportunity to shoot the venue in context of an event with a reception with centerpieces, ceremony space, and a “bride & groom”. I knew as a photographer, I was not shooting as if I were photographing a wedding…I was shooting for the venue–as a BRAND PHOTOGRAPHER! It wasn’t only about the pretty things, it was about selling the venue & providing them the images they needed for their marketing.
