The Scout Guide Huntsville celebrated the launch of Volume 7 with an unforgettable party hosted at the stunning home of Chris and Zach Penney in Downtown Huntsville. If you haven’t heard of The Scout Guide yet, it’s one of the best publications highlighting Huntsville’s vibrant business community. This annual launch party brings together entrepreneurs, creatives, and business owners to celebrate their inclusion in the guide—and, of course, to network in style.
With the perfect mix of elegant decor, vibrant energy, and a stellar guest list, the event felt like a night of connection and celebration, where Huntsville’s business owners showcased their work and passion. As a Huntsville event photographer, I had the privilege of capturing the essence of this gorgeous night from start to finish.
Before the guests even arrived, I was on-site, ready to work. As the event photographer for the evening, I made sure to arrive about 45 minutes early to capture every detail before the festivities began. My rule when photographing events is simple: If someone spent money on it, it deserves to be documented. From the floral arrangements to the gorgeous place settings and signage, every detail mattered.
Working closely with event planner, Courtney Burton, and The Scout Guide Editor, Dawn Pumpelly, I followed their shot list to ensure nothing was missed. The list included editorial team group shots and images of the event’s vendors who brought the night to life. This approach helps ensure that each image tells a cohesive story of the event—something I prioritize as a photographer working with businesses in Huntsville.
As the guests arrived, my focus shifted to capturing the excitement and interactions. Launch parties are all about connections, and this one was no different. With Volume 7 of The Scout Guide freshly in hand, attendees proudly showed off their spreads and enjoyed flipping through the pages with friends and colleagues.
It was important to me to document those genuine moments—guests chatting over cocktails, posing with their guides, and enjoying the celebration. As a Huntsville event photographer, my goal is to freeze these moments in time so that businesses can look back and see how they were part of something special in the community.
