Client reviews aid in the helping clients finding you through SEO and in making the decision to work with you. Just like when your friends rave about a restaurant, seeing that there’s social proof of someone just like them raving about you is all it takes for some people to make the jump to choose you!
So how do you ensure that you have the reviews for potential clients to see? You ask your current clients, of course! I include reviewing me in my off-boarding emails that I send to clients, but I also send my favorite clients a personal email a couple times a year to ensure I capture their review. Here are the steps I take to make this process as easy as possible for my clients to leave me a raving review.
Your clients love you and truly want to help you be successful…especially if it’s free. Do not be afraid to ask them for a review and let them know how much you value them. Here is an example of how I asked a few of my best clients in an email!
Making the process as easy as possible with ensure that you’ll get as many reviews back as you can. Here are a couple things that you can do to make giving you a great review as easy as possible for your client:
Provide Links: provide direct links to where you want them to post a review. If you have more than one platform, then make sure to post your primary link first, depending on where your future clients hangout, mine is Google. Think about Google, Facebook, Yelp, LinkedIn.
Talking Points: One of my biggest hurdles that stands in the way of me posting a review is not knowing what to talk about. Think about some talking points that you may want your clients to think about.
Make sure to thank your clients for taking precious time out of their day to review you by simply saying thank you. This could be a reply to their review, a direct email, or even a handwritten note. If you want to go the extra mile, think of a small, thoughtful gift that you could send as well. Anything that you do to show your appreciation will go a long way and you will have a forever customer from your client.
Whether it be a week after your service is complete or after their product has been delivered (always make sure it’s after this!), make sure that you’re sending a way that your clients can review your service/product and tell the world how amazing you are. What is the easiest way to do this? Automate it! Have a canned email written out and schedule it to make sure it’s a part of your workflow.
About 2-3 times a year I send out an email to select clients, specifically asking them for a review. Usually these are clients who are influential in the community, are in an industry that I want to do more business in, and ones that I really want to work with more.
When delivering images to my clients, this is what I write in their email:
If you had a great experience with me, I’d love if you would write a review for future clients to see:
Google: https://g.page/kiaandco/review?rc
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pg/thekiaandco/reviews
Don’t let these reviews go to waste…this is precious gold!! In the industry we call this social proof, it’s not only you telling someone how amazing you are, but someone else telling your client how amazing you are (even more precious if it’s someone they know or admire). Consider taking these reviews and posting them your homepage, sales page, and social media.
