Burn Down for What is a woman-owned, small business based in Richmond, Virginia. Molly Hobcroft, the owner of this hand made candle company prides herself on creating candles that are made of real scents, using all-natural soy wax, cotton wicks, and real fragrances, with a little humor thrown in for good measure.
Molly and I have been working together for almost the past year developing the concept behind this shoot. The ultimate goal was to create images for a website, but the images could also be used for the Burn Down for What social media as well! Due to supply shortages and her busy Fall/Christmas season, we postponed the shoot to ensure that we had the time, space, and supplies to do the shoot exactly the way Molly had envisioned it.
Last summer, Burn Down for What underwent a total brand design overhaul with the talented Kara McCoy of Kara Anne & Co., also based in Richmond, VA. Kara created Molly a new logo, labels for each candle scent, and a fresh e-commerce website…and it all fit Molly and her candle brand seamlessly! It was a dream to work with Kara, because as a designer, she knew exactly what the website needed image wise to make sure everything looked cohesive and provided me with a comprehensive shot list.
The shot list included:
When handing over products, Molly made sure to provide me with 2 of each type of candle, candles that were packaged, matches that she provides with each candle, and all the complementary props (these props were next level and oh so fun!!). I loved the level of organization that Molly had, labeling each bag of props with the corresponding candle scent.
This was a dream project, collaborating with women who are upstanding professionals. I’m so excited to share Burn Down for What’s final images and their amazing new website!
Custom stock imagery for website headers and collections
For some candles it made sense to vary the styled imagery so that Molly has options.
