District Brand Bar is the colorful brand by Kristin Lawton. Kristin is a marketing expert based in Washington D.C. and helps brands get clear on their branding and marketing strategies with her online courses, downloadables, & group sessions. She calls herself a Brand Mixologist, which fits right into her fun brand. In her nearly 20 years of experience directing marketing and branding strategies, she’s done it all, from creating social media strategies, growing an online audience, launching and redesigning websites to leading major branding and rebranding efforts. She draws on her experiences to immerse herself in the customer experience and own those narratives, making her a great storyteller.
She loves the life of living in the downtown D.C. area and features many of the amazing eateries and bars that she frequents. Keeping with her love of cocktails, each of her packages are named after different kinds of drinks, making planning for her session so much fun!
For Kristin’s marketing brand session for District Brand Bar, we concentrated on shooting for the launch of her upcoming quiz where she directs clients to her different packages depending on their personalities and how they want to interact with their clients. Her session included two different storylines–Marketing Packages & Behind the Scenes of working in the City.
For each of Kristin’s storylines, we selected a different location. For the packages that she offers her clients, we selected to work in her Downtown Washington D.C. condo where she has her home office, a fully stocked bar, and cute downtown neighborhoods nearby. We then moved over to a nearby cafe, Butter Me Up, to feature her working in a chic, colorful environment. Each of these locations were wonderful because they had a few things in common:
1. A location with Diverse looks– Within one location we could get a few different looks for her brand session, adding variety to her gallery. We had different backgrounds and furniture to work with in one small area.
2. A location with Good lighting– As a photographer, I’m always looking for THE LIGHT! Kristin’s condo had amazing light with windows that surrounded her entire living and office space. The cafe had great areas with lighting, but there was one place where we had to supplement with lights (but that’s why I came prepared with my flashes).
3. A location that matched her brand– This one was big! Each of these colorful locations each matched the brand of District Brand Bar. Helping the images look cohesive within her website, marketing materials, & social media.
