There’s something about stepping away from routine that opens the door for fresh inspiration. Between brand sessions and business projects, I’d been craving a little creative breathing room — the kind that comes from exploring someplace new, camera in hand.

When a client trip brought me to Texas, I found myself with a free day and the perfect opportunity for a long-awaited stop: the Silos at Magnolia Market in Waco. As a long-time fan of Joanna Gaines and her thoughtful approach to design, this visit had been on my list for years.

From the moment I arrived, the light felt golden and welcoming — the kind of light photographers chase. The Silos are every bit as inspiring as you’d imagine: timeless textures, functional beauty, and intentional spaces that invite you to slow down and stay awhile.

As I wandered through the shops and coffee house (and yes, ate the best banana bread ever), I couldn’t help but keep my camera out. The details were too good to ignore — clean lines, soft neutrals, and that signature Magnolia blend of rustic and refined.

While there, I did all the things — I explored, shopped (I treated myself to a new card wallet), and even booked a flower pressing class. We learned the process, the tools, and created our own prints using pressed flowers gathered right from the Magnolia grounds — and even from Joanna’s farm.

It was the kind of hands-on creative experience that reminds me why I love what I do: design, texture, and storytelling through small, meaningful details. The early morning light made everything glow, and I left feeling recharged, both personally and creatively.
