Salt & Paperie was about to release this year’s collection of Christmas cards, a release that many of her loyal clients, families & former wedding clients, are awaiting! Jacki does a great job of designing cards that are fun, allow the photographs to shine, but also clean & classic.
When thinking about her product photography for this collection, I wanted to make sure that we put them in context of the holidays, but yet putting the card at the forefront of the image. Unlike Jacki’s wedding invitation suites which contain many pieces, these holiday cards only consisted of one piece. Because they are double-sided, I wanted the clients to simultaneously see both sides, which required that I have at least two of each card on hand.
On top of taking the images for each design, Jacki also needed images that she could use for marketing & website purposes. These images needed to have a lot of white space for Jacki to work with, both to add her own wording, but also to crop for a banner image on her website.
This is what my shot list consisted of for Jacki’s Christmas card collection:
Jacki & I work together on a regular basis, ensuring her product photography is consistent. About once a month, she sends me the designs that she is about to deliver to her clients & I photograph them in my California, Maryland studio. Jacki is always getting fresh images of her products, giving her content to use on social media and to update her website portfolio.
